Another Avenue

The Bord Gáis Energy Irish Book Awards 2011

For all you lovers of literature or those of you who just enjoy a good book, we recently filmed the Bord Gáis Energy Irish Book Awards at the RDS and the fruits of our labours were broadcast on Thursday, November 24th at 10:45pm on RTÉ One.

Our new President, Michael D Higgins, was the Guest of Honour, and presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to fellow poet, Séamus Heaney.

Former President of the United States, Bill Clinton, gave a pre-recorded tribute to Mr Heaney and described him as "one of the world's favourite poets".

Other winners on the night were Neil Jordan, Alan Glynn, Belinda McKeon, Tim Robinson, Caitlin Moran, Sheila O'Flanagan, Rachel Allen, Anna Carey, Chris Judge and Nicholas Roche.

The Royal Visit

Over the last few weeks, everyone at Another Avenue has been very busy compiling B-Roll and interview footage for Tourism Ireland to distribute to the World Media around the visit of Queen Elizabeth II to Ireland this month. So, thank you to all of the people at all the beautiful spots around the country that allowed our cameras in to capture you at your very best!

We also developed a media download portal to distribute the footage to the international media, and you can check out some of the reels and interviews here. If you are a media agency, please take the time to register with the site as the footage can be downloaded in various formats.

In the meantime, here are some of the shots of the Garden of Remembrance in Parnell Street, Dublin. This was one of many places being visited by the Queen, but is perhaps the most historically significant, as it commemorates all who perished in the fight for Irish Freedom.
